Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard courts

A comeback the Russian player won his first championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-term coach his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial title since the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since March of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my children at once, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to wonder if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an better serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to create a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 early opportunities in a tight third set before the Russian broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
