I will dominate 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer will face Jake Paul in an eight round contest which will be shown in real-time on the streaming platform.

Briton Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the pair met personally to publicize next month's bout.

Former twice unified boxing king Joshua meets social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge disparity - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Fighter's Mentality

"I will injure his face and break his body up. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, declared.

"I will dominate him completely. That's a fighter's mentality.

"I will really want to hurt him. That's what I want to do."

Civil Exchange

Despite these statements, a composed Anthony Joshua and social media star Paul - usually famous for his showmanship - were respectful and maintained decorum with each other.

Paul instead targeted ex Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and called him "not serious" after Ngannou declined a bout proposal.

Targeting Fury

Anthony Joshua, at the same time, criticized British opponent Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul victory.

"Jake Paul outshines Tyson Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.

"I give him credit for that."

Legitimate Fighter

Despite stating he plans to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to speak negatively about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he stated.

Jake Paul's Background

Jake Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has primarily fought mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since turning professional.

He was defeated by British fighter Fury in 2023.

Financial Success

Still, the relative newcomer remains one of the sport's biggest commercial attractions, regularly earning substantial earnings.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28 year old forecast a knockout win in round four or five and stated he would derail the much-anticipated Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly being planned for two years from now.

"It will be me versus Tyson Fury next year," Jake Paul declared.

Physical Disparity

As the two fighters met for the traditional confrontation, with their size difference on show, it drove home just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the fight is really happening.
